"Many thanks for all of your hard work in finding us this lovely house. You hung in there with us.....This house by far is the best fit for both of us and we are so happy here. Thanks for guiding us through the buying process from a distance." -- David & Kelly O.
As a homeowner in the State of Texas, you're entitled to a reduction in your real estate taxes. When you first close on your home, you continue to ride on the coat-tails of the former owner (seller) to receive the exemption for the remainer of that year.
Once the new year begins, you need to file a Homestead Exemption form with the Tarrant Appraisal District in order to receive the reduction from that point forward. (You only file once for all the years you own the home, unless your status changes.)
Typically, your home's tax value is reduced by $15,000 for tax calculation purposes. Don't you just love Texas?!
